THE EVENT EXPERIENCE
SEE GOD MOVE
God has gifted each of us uniquely and is calling each of us to live out a radical missionary identity so that more people may come to know and love him. By attending Upper Room and joining the Proclaim movement, you are saying "yes" to that call in a particular way in this particular time and place. You will be responding to a deep need in the world and in the hearts of others, but you will not be doing it alone! In collaboration with other disciples, and in response to an invitation of the Holy Spirit, we know that we will see God move!
ABOUT THE EVENT
The Upper Room is a response to this movement of God. Disciples from all over our cities are gathering to be challenged, equipped, and inspired to proclaim the name of Jesus. But this goes far beyond just one day. The Upper Room is our largest ministry event of the year and is the momentum moment for ministries and Proclaim in the Archdiocese of Vancouver
Proclaim is a movement in the Archdiocese of Vancouver to awaken disciples across our cities and spread the name of Jesus in their homes and communities.

CONFERENCE TALKS SUMMARY
ARCHBISHOP J. MICHAEL MILLER, CSB will kick off the Upper Room conference and the second year of the Proclaim Movement, which was launched in hopes of promoting a new missionary impulse capable of impacting the Lower Mainland with the power of the Gospel. We see this mission come alive today through disciples who recognize evangelizing moments in their day-to-day lives – in their families, communities, and workplaces.
DR. MARY HEALY, professor of Scripture at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, is a bestselling author well known to Vancouver Catholics. She will be speaking on “Hope That Does Not Disappoint.” After Pentecost, the Apostles went forth to proclaim the Gospel - willing to GIVE THEIR LIVES (and did). They were forming communities that looked different from the world, marked by love and joy. But they were not insular, self-referential (EG 28/29). They had an evangelizing mission.
PETE BURAK forms intentional disciples as Director of i.d.9:16, the young adult outreach of Renewal Ministries. He is a frequent speaker on discipleship and evangelization and will address us on “Getting into the Game.” One of the values of Proclaim is "living out of a Spirit-led boldness". Do we know how to hear the Holy Spirit and are we willing to do what He might ask of us? Are we convicted that with the Holy Spirit we have power? (Acts 1:8, 2 Tim 1:6-7)
FR. JOHN RICCARDO is a priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit. He is the Founder and Executive Director of ACTS XXIX, a non-profit apostolate that helps to reclaim the world for Christ by equipping clergy and lay leaders for the new “apostolic” age in which we live. His talk is titled “You Were Born for This.” Fr John has a dynamic message that is clear and simple yet challenging. Before ACTS XXIX, Fr John was a pastor of a parish that saw over 2500 go through their Alpha course.
Since his 2008 major label debut, MATT MAHER has become a staple in the artistic and song writing community. A nine-time GRAMMY® nominee and three-time GMA Dove Award winner, he has garnered considerable success writing and recording songs, including “Lord, I Need You” and “Because He Lives (Amen).” Matt will do a 30-minute concert as part of the Upper Room conference and will be interviewed by Eric Chow.
